Selecting Your Contact Lenses

You and your doctor will discuss which type of contact lenses are best for you. You will be given advice on which contact lens will provide you the best comfort, vision, and long term health. Your needs will be analyzed and considered carefully when choosing the best contact lens option.

A contact lens examination will include several tests that an examination for glasses does not require. Your doctor will check the front of your eyes very carefully to look for abnormalities in the ocular surface of the eye that make contact lens wear difficult. Your eyes will be measured in a special way to determine the curve of the contact lens that will correctly fit your eyes. the doctor may need to use special dye which is temporary, but allows for evaluation of your tear film, and corneal health.

A contact lens fitting includes instructions by one of our contact lens technicians on how to insert, remove, and care for your contact lenses. You may be asked to return for a contact lens check approximately two weeks after you are fit, so the doctor can evaluate how the contact lenses are fitting and discuss with you how you are enjoying your vision. The Follow up appointments are very important to ensure that your eyes do not develop any contact lens related problems.
